Facade geometry optimisation and parametric classification during design development consolidated over 1,000 geometries into 88 component types: 52 standard and 36 special.

02Component classification and geometric checks

Layered blades facing the bay create a continuous surface but also many individual geometries. During design development I optimised the facade using Grasshopper for decomposition, type consolidation and position checks, reducing over 1,000 geometries to 88 component types: 52 standard and 36 special.

Contour control, decomposition, classification and position checks establish repeatable rules. Returning to the overall model preserves continuity and provides shared geometric references for design development and subsequent manufacturing coordination.

Layered facade control lines and plan contours define blade positions. Parametric classification must be checked against the whole building so that local repetition preserves visual continuity. My contribution concerned facade geometry optimisation and component classification during design development.
